Staycations With the weekend about to start, and the thought of sitting in the line up of cars headed north on the ribbon of sweltering pavement passes through your mind, perhaps this would be a good weekend to stay at home and enjoy some of the offerings around town. From Fridays at the Foster, this week with the Shimoda Family Ensemble to the Highlands of Durham Games there is plenty to do around town. The Uxbridge Heritage Centre is open with an exhibition of vintage toys and collectibles that the children might enjoy or perhaps a ride on the Uxbridge Heritage Train would keep them occupied for a few hours. Perhaps a visit to the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery in Leaskadle is on your agenda for the weekend Thanks to the many hours by local volunteers there are several local historical attractions for you to enjoy Beside the wide choices of eateries in Uxbridge there is also the Farmers Market at the Uxbridge Arena where you can pick up some fresh veggies and other interesting things straight from the local farmers who grow it.

Kathy....a very good idea even if your temps. are not high; enjoying events around you can be more refreshing than driving long distances [with so many other drivers who don't want to be on the roadways]
Good of you point out what is locally happening in your area.
Have a great weekend.
Barb
Barb - there certainly is a wide variety of things to do locally
I love staycations. There is nothing like sleeping in your own bed while doing the local, fun events.
Cal
Cal - Vacations and road trips make a great break ..... however when it comes to sleeping "there is nothing like sleeping in your own bed" and staycations certainly do provide that luxury
